Intuition as a consulting service: what can be checked

Alongside astrology, “intuitive consultation” is often on offer — an answer that rests on no method, only on the perception of the person advising. It is worth separating out what about it is established.

What intuition actually is

Research describes intuition as rapid pattern recognition built on experience. It is real, it is measurable, and in some fields it outperforms conscious deliberation — above all where someone has seen many cases over the years and the feedback was quick and unambiguous.

Those two conditions are exactly what decides the matter. Where they hold — experienced doctors, firefighters, chess players — intuitive judgement is remarkably reliable. Where they are missing, it is no better than guessing, and the confidence of the judgement rises all the same.

The uncomfortable point

The feeling of being right and actually being right are linked more loosely than one expects. That is one of the most robust findings in research on judgement, and it affects everyone — including anyone who knows it.

For a consultation this means: how convinced the person advising is gives no indication of how good the answer is. Rather the opposite, since anyone aware of their own limits sounds less certain.

How an offer can be judged

Is it stated what the answer rests on? With astrology it is the chart, and the derivation can be shown. Intuitive consultation has no such basis — that is not an objection, but it should be said openly.
Are limits named? No diagnosis, no legal advice, no investment recommendation.
Is the price fixed in advance?
Is fear being created? A foretold misfortune that can be averted for a fee is the oldest and most reliable sign of an untrustworthy offer.

Why this is written here

Because astrology has something to lose here. It has a basis that can be recalculated: two astrologers working from the same birth data arrive at the same chart. They argue about the interpretation, not about the calculation.

That is its one advantage over a bare assertion — and it is lost the moment astrology is mixed with methods that do not have it.
